This is the footage from the attempted assassination of President Reagan. I knew this happened and I had seen the footage before, but I was way too young to understand it. It's nowhere near as visceral as the Kennedy assassination, but still chilling all the same. Seeing a moment like this as it went down must have been crazy. The person filming was right in the line of fire. so crazy.
Made me think of GTA Vice City with the way everyone is dressed and that big ass uzi... That shit is crazy tho walking out just chillen then gettin shot at like that..
Reagan was hit under the armpit and the bullet punctured his lung. He was coughing up frothy blood on the way to the hospital. Everyone survived, but Reagan's Press Secretary, James Brady, was hit in the head and suffered from severe brain damage. Terrible.
On one level I agree with you, but on another level, I think if I had a camera and the opportunity I would do the same thing. I mean, the president had just been shot, that's historic footage, especially considering how close that camera man was. It's not the same when it's paparazzi, but stuff like this I side with the media for being just a little nosey, you know?
Thanks wikipedia :P. The guy yellin "motherfucker" makes it even more "real". I wish there were another angle to it so u could see the shoter get ownend.
god you are such a moron. That isn't some "random" guy, he is obviously secret service. I don't even want to touch the first sentence, I'm sure enough people will shit all over you for being a piece of shit without my two cents. It's awesome to wish someone were killed.....
classy dude, classy. care to share you insight as to why you would wish a president that did more for this country than you can probably ever hope to accomplish dead?
I didn't realize we had anyone this fucking liberal and just plain stupid on NS.
I consider myself fairly conservative and to be honest not a huge fan of our current president at all, but I would never want someone to assassinate him.
your an idiot. can you even name 3 things that reagan did? im assuming your a blindly sucking obamas cock kind of guy, which if im right, being an uneducated and uninformed tool is your choice, but reagan had higher approval ratings than obama has had so he obviously knew what was up. if reagan were in office today, the economy would be much better off than it is with liberals calling the shots. and as for what you said, thats fucked up. i dont care how much you dont like somebody you dont just wish death upon them. please, educate yourself or shut up
Wait, is this the very first time you have seen/heard about this?
I only have one thing to post in this thread.

Ronald Reagan, why oh why?
How do you manage to slide on by?
Wait, do you really believe his lazzez faire ideals on the economy was the right choice? To openly let massive corprations do whatever the fuck they want, screw over consumers, and underpay employees.
What "trickle down" economics works? Why does the top 3% in this country hold all the wealth, because they allow it to "trickle down"? He crippled the lower and middle class more than you can even understand.
Reagan and one of the best economists in the world (robert mundell) popularized supply side economics. IMO one of the best methods of economics. So my posts concerning Reagan are only about his supply side beliefs.
So you feel like because you can get your clothes and ipods from china for very cheap that you as the consumer are being screwed? I think the exact opposite.
as far as employees being under payed, that's what education is for. America is one of the most productive countries in the world because most Americans are well educated, allowing them to be more productive producers and obtain higher wages. You wanna stop making min wage? then get off your ass and do something with your life.
Free trade along supply side economics helps not only America but other poor countries that hold a comparative advantage in labor.
And crippling the middle and lower class? Really? It is a known fact that the less you tax the rich, the more the government grosses in tax money from the rich. woah amazing! who would of thought that encouraging spending and productivity by lowering tax rates would get you more money then before!
High tax rates only hurt the middle class. The lower and upper classes have no incentive to be more productive because for the most part they are not dependent on productivity, but taxing the middle class hurts everyone. Middle class workers actually have to work to support themselves and their family while upper class people have enough money to live off of in savings, and lower class is helped by the government.
but yeah, fuck Reagan i guess, a man who pulled us out of a recession and the 1970s oil crisis, by lowering tax rates, who would've thunk.
i sorta feel like will ferrell should have stepped out! or Eddie murphie from beverly hills cop!
such a stereotype pig bunch. I mean you have the token black cop who probably lost his father to the force, then the clown with the uzi and moustache who has flashbacks of this day forever. We should have are (where are they now?) on these guys would be so funny.
We can get our clothes and iPods from China for very cheap, but where has that gotten us? A communist rival of Reagans' is now a superpower. Not only that, but a large amount of jobs got outsourced to China or to other parts of Asia. The entire manufacturing industry in the United States is basically dead because of the cheap labor available in China.
Education is another problem with the United States, you need to have it get any reasonably good job, but the cost does nothing but go up. Once you do graduate, you spend years paying off loans that you either got from the government, or even worse, private banks. That is IF you get a good job, when in fact you might have to go to Graduate school right after. I can see your argument as valid if the education system worked in this country similarly to Canada or Europe, where basically everyone can go to college, they only need to prove that they are intelligent enough, not wealthy enough.
The way the economy works now, and even back then, does not push the wealthy to spend on the sectors of the economy that truly help the lower classes. Why would they spend, when they can grow wealthy through investing? Nowadays when investors do spend, middle classes still get hurt the most because of the greed of the upper class. The credit crunch is a prime example, investor groups like mutual and sovereign funds wanted more and more CDOs so more people were given mortgages who shouldn't of gotten them, which lead to sub-prime mortgages. Eventually everyone ended up holding toxic assets, and the middle and lower class ends up without jobs while the large investing groups got away clean. Reagan built his economy on greed, and it did nothing but hurt everyone else.
You make a lot of assumptions about the lower class it seems, do you really believe that ALL members of the lower class have no incentive to be more productive? Maybe they are just stuck in a cycle of poverty, did you ever consider the people who just don't have the time and money for college who simply have to work to help their family? The middle class suffered tremendously as well, though that was not felt until later. They paid later when companies were not as profitable as they should of been to support the supply side model. The middle class were left out to dry, at least the lower class had a safety net.
I wonder if this thread was created to start political discussion...hmmm...guess I fell into the trap, oh well.
Yes, because everyone can afford higher education, of course. Let's just all pull ourselves up by our bootstraps. Free trade CAN help America and it CAN help poor countries. To say that it only helps is completely irresponsible on any sort of economic level. There are negatives and positives of free trade.
Sorry but you are completely outdated on economics. "It is a known fact that the less you tax the rich, the more the government grosses in tax money from the rich"
Actually it isn't a well known fact, it's called the Laffer Curve. That's what you just described and it is completely irrelevant. The issue is that it, like any other similar model, is built on a world of assumptions. Want some examples? Okay, this assumes that domestic investment is returned and domestic purchase occurs. It doesn't, which funny enough, completely disowns your point of free trade being good for America. Take a pick.
Lowering taxes will not create consumption in a time of crisis like now. Once you get passed you are going to realize that there are certain traps markets fall into, which your precious supply side economics will only worsen. I'm not saying they can't be effective sometimes, but most of the time (and when Reagan used them) they are devastating to the economy in later years.
The claim that Reagan could have kept us out of this recession is completely ludicrous. Reagan helped build our debt today (he was not responsible for the entirity). Want to know why the inequality gap remains at a height unprecedented only just before the great depression? Well it doesn't take much to put two and two together. Massive de-regulation causes this. It's an implication of "supply side" economics at work. There's a reason Jean-Baptiste Say was disputed in his time.
All you need to know is that aggregate supply does not create aggregate demand for any sort of long term cycle. That right there will discredit anything supply side economics does.
I suggest you read a book that isn't dated in the 80's or published by the University of Chicago.
That guys statement was way out of line, but so is yours.
I can name 3 bad things any president did. Could start with Obama, Bush, Clinton, the likes of them all, but Reagan hmmm.
1. Completely blowing the threat of drugs out of proportion. Starting the "War on Drugs" Yes the crack epidemic hit hard during the 80's and it should have been dealt with, but in a much more according manner than throwing everyone in prison.
2. Iran-Contras
3. Funny enough you should mention the man who was paralyzed in that attack. There was a "Brady Bill" put out after he was shot and paralyzed to help control guns. Reagan denied that one pretty quick.
4.PATCO
5. Single handedly introduced the Military Industrial Complex to a level where we will always have to spend massive amounts of money on national defense.
