Last week, the Bromance Crew was fiending for some shred.
While some people went to VT, and some people hit up the backyard, we were dead set on sliding some exclusive snow. A quick phone call to Belleayre yielded us the "There's no snow here" line, we hoped to find some lingering snow.
I was awaiting the arrival of my new Bluehouse Antics. With no skis to use, I was stuck playing wheel-man. Before long, I had my Forester loaded up with Chuckie and Christian, while 2 very new Rome boards and a rather large piece of PVC were occupying rack space up on the Thule.
We could see a few very small strips of snow from the lodge, but they weren't enough. Chuckie and Christian had been there a week earlier for a pre-season jib event, and they knew there were substantial snowpiles higher up. Those piles were what we were looking for.
After scoping the situation, we headed up to the highest parking lot and made our way in the direction of the snow. After a steep hike halfway up the hill, we stumbled upon -presumably- the last snow in the state.
Hammers were dropped, shots were taken, and fun was had.
The following Tuesday, the 24th, we made another trip up. This time it was with Christian and Mike.
The PVC was already up there, so simply carrying our gear would have been a simple task.
Bromance does not like simple.
During the last trip, I scoped some access roads that zigzag across the mountain, and I was certain that I could make it very close to the snow we hit a few days earlier. I was sure I could make it because a hill patrolman drove right behind us on the last trip in a Trailblazer.
The trip was surprisingly smooth (save a few parts) and the 'zigzag system' wasn't hard to figure out. I was able to get pretty close to where we wanted to be.
*Looking down at my Child. Not near actual snowpatch. I drove too high, but I was able to find my way right next to the snow later.
*Looking up. Belleayre is such a big mountain, it blows my mind every time.
Bangers were thrown, the lens saw all.
We made the trip back down in the dark, and I tried a different route down. This resulted in me actually driving up Dot Nebel- Belleayre's premiere NASCAR ski arena mega trail. After wanting to cry because I was driving up a god damned ski hill, I was able to make it out.
We went up one more time, but decided to forgo the drive up. This resulted in consistent banging under the supervision of Christian's camera.
A small edit was compiled to recount the banging. Are they regular or goofy? You decide.
Thanks for reading! I will randomly showcase the adventures of the Bromance Crew as the winter wears on.
