FKS Forward pressure question

Yeah I know there have been alot of these but I had a little different question. I now know that the forward pressure on my FKS 120 was not set right and I was wondering if this could have contributed to me tearing my acl. I also tried to adjust them into spec but I couldnt even do that so does this mean that they aren't mounted right for my boots or what?

Yeah, it could been cause of this that you tore your ACl.

be more specific with your problem, like are the bindings too tight or too loose? look in the "what binding" sticky thread, i posted a guide on setting fks forward pressure. if you can't get the indicators to line up then the bindings are not safe to use and will need a remount

Yeah I cant get the idicators to line up. A shop mounted them for my boots last year.. I skied them 5 days ended up with a torn acl and when I wrecked it just didnt seem like they released right..

well then go to the fucking shop and make them cover your surgery...if the shop didn't possess enough basic knowledge to mount and adjust the fks (i assume you gave them your boots) then they should be responsible for your injury

does the actual tab move? i tried sliding it and it doesnt budge. also how does it magically move back whenever i click into my binding i really dont understand it.

the tab slides back because it's meant to have room to move when your boot is put in the binding...it's simply a spring. when you click your boot in it pushes the heel back slightly to get a snug fit and that's how you tell forward pressure- it only works when the boot is in the binding

to adjust the tab you put the heel in closed position and turn the wormscrews on either side of the dildo piece the exact same number of turns until your indicator lines up. if you're not sure just have a shop do it, it's not something to fuck around with

i recently discovered that the forward pressure on some of my fks was too tight. this put more stress on the binding than normal and actually cracked metal pieces on the binding. this allowed me to adjust the forward pressure with my fingers - definitely shouldnt be that easy. ive been forced to retire one of my heels. two others have the same problem but the cracks are smaller and it seems they still function properly.

No I have to use a screwdriver to turn the screw. I cant just turn it.

I guess my question also is how does the forward pressure adjustment being off make it easier to tear my acl? I guess I'm just not sure how it works and what it does with th release.

just make sure your pressure is lined up with the tabs when clicked in to have the least chance of tearing anything

that already happened.. I'm thinking they are mounted wrong from what people have said. but I guess I am also looking for more of an explanation of why it increases the likely hood of you tearing something.

well it can cause pre release or like a delayed release because of how its holding your boot. how did you fall? that could really help determine if it was a problem with the forward pressure
