BRUTAL.  we're flying in the other direction, missing it nonetheless.

OKEMO is making snow right now, midday.  Killington certainly can get it done, too, they just aren't apparently. 

Something needs to be done about this.  maybe everyone who is getting boned in this deal should make a post right now and we can see about getting this done?

Well Killington is actually opening tomorrow at 9am. The rails to riches venue is right at the base of the mountain though, and temperatures are heating up a little bit, so I think they're worried about not being able to lay down the amount of snow needed to make the level of setup that they want for the competition. It's definitely going to mess with people's plans though.

you are the dumbass. think about how many people are now out of the competition becasue the event changed, how many people lost money on plane tickets for basically nothing now. a flat box would be better then postponing the event. `

they do this shit everyyear, and by every year i think this is the third year they have post poned it. time to plan a little better. and they are opening tommorow for the weekend and beyond why would they postpone it? change the location on the mountain if anything

You are a dumbass. I think it fucking blows that the event got canceled. You are making a false dichotomy, saying that you have to either a) change the event date or b) have it on a single flat box.

Let me explain to you, there are other options. (Bringing in extra snowmaking equipment, moving the location further up the hill, shipping snow from a rink, scraping snow from parking lots + snow banks even if it is brown, etc)

The idea to just say fuck it and hold it the event on a fucking flat box is a joke. im sure a lot of people who spent good money to travel to this event will be stoked that the feature used to judge their abilities (and who gets the prize) will be soemthing that everyone and their mother can ski. Its a competition, meaning people need to showcase their highest technical skills. You think a flat box offers that option?

Im not saying cancel it, Im saying having a high prize level contest on a flat box is fucking stupid, and shouldnt even be considered an option.

wicked bummed becuase now I cant do it.....but I did get to cancel my hotel without any fees!!! so im excited about that. but still disappointed I cant do it this year....oh well....maybe next year.

good luck to anyone who is trying to change airline tickets. hope it doesn't cost you too much.

i never said that a flat box is the only option, im saying that it is far better then postponing and basically eliminating anyone who was traveling for it. im sure that everyone traveling will be stoked that they are there for the wrong weekend. at least with a flat box everyone could participate and in order to stand out to the judges you would have some originality instead of looking like everyone else and their mothers... i not trying to start an argument or anything im just saying its fucked how many people dont have the opportunity to showcase their skills now.

It's a bummer no doubt and it blows that some of you are getting hosed.

Unfortunately though, the only thing to blame is the weather.

"Wednesday Night: Rain, mainly after 10pm. Low around 38. Windy, with a south wind 10 to 13 mph increasing to between 27 and 30 mph. Winds could gust as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday: Rain, mainly before 11am. High near 51. Windy, with a southwest wind 29 to 32 mph decreasing to between 15 and 18 mph. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible."

Killington can't redirect snowmaking to the venue as they have to produce as much snow as they possibly can on the regular trails in order to open for the weekend for normal ski operations. Selling lifttickets is the main revenue generator for the resort, and they are already nearly a month behind on operations. They must focus on opening up for the season.

With that forecast above, they are going to struggle to even survive and be open Thursday and Friday. And they certainly would not have enough snow to hold a high level competition.

Def a dope event going on.  The ads going out for this are in the thousands, not to mention email and other media forms.

its a rail jam, not a pow shredding contest how much snow is really required. that is the biggest cop out ever. they could fire up a few guns friday and friday night. they seriously altered the comp because they're being cheap. really can't expect much more out of a ski resort though.

and if they're having trails open why can't they consider moving the venue? killington is the most goomba.

my posts keep getting fucked so let's just be blunt

1) weather forecasting-- should've tried to see if it was goin to be shitty. if there was possibility for cancellation, should've be stated.

2) ass kissing-- if this hasn't happened, Killy should try to offer up something to people who cannot attend anymore. you had some reaaaal legit people who were going to come that are getting screwed. they would've brought you more onlookers too. but sorry's not good enough.

3) since when is snow a must-have for railjams? make due. so many jams are held on ice rink snow, hay and man made structures. figure it out.


idk like i said my posts were getting messed up. sorry to everyone who got a-raped by killy, stoked for everyone else who is fortunately able to attend.
