Leaving the state on probation for work?

Alright, so I live in Michigan. I'm on probation right now for 12 months. I've done 3 months, 9 to go. I've completed all of my community service, and I've gone to all the AA bull shit. I have not gotten in any trouble at all since probation started. I'm on it for running 20 feet from the police when I was drunk. So I've got a felony over my head, BUT once I complete probation, its off my record for good.

K, so now the problem. I'm in Michigan and I babysit for these kids, and there father is pretty wealthy. Last night he called me, and asked if I would be game to head to Vail for a week during Christmas break. He said he would pay for my plane ticket, the hotel, and the lift tickets. HE WOULD ALSO BE PAYING ME to help watch the kids at night when he's busy. IMO this is a great opportunity that I want to jump on. But I'm trying to figure out if babysitting is legit enough to be work to let me leave the state? My PO said the only reason I could leave the state would be for work, and I mean technically this is work. So does anybody have any experience with anything like this? Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

either way doesnt it have to be cleared by your probation officer?
ask him if it meets the requirements to be considered "work"

 I wouldnt want to fuck up making that felony go away. I would say that having to check the box of being a convicted felon on every job application you fill out would suck balls

does that father know your on probation because you could have him tell the PO that he needs you and no one else will do it. Don't call it babysitting make it seem like a real full time job that should convince him

but it sounds legit. its not like your on parole for murder. and your going to be with an adult.

Alright, thanks for the input guys. I just don't really want to ask my probation officer before I know everything. I'm getting in touch with my lawyer in a little, and he'll figure this shit out.

Call the oficer, call it pastoral care or teaching not just babysitting come up with a fancy name for it.
Then call the guy what's the worst that can happen he will say no?

a buddy of mine was in a very similar situation. despite telling him he could leave the state for certain reasons i dont believe he was ever actually allowed to leave in the 2 years he was on probation. i HIGHLY DOUBT skiing and babysitting for a week is a good enough excuse. but good luck

Well, first off, yea I'm not presenting myself to the PO as, "hey can I go to vail for a week and ski? Oh and then help watch some kids for a little?"

It will be presented professionally, as everybody has said to do. Maybe a full time "manny", or maybe, with this guy being the CEO of his company, he'll just say I'm working for him out west for a week.

Oh and yea, I'm not too worried about the guy getting a call. He's a good guy, knows people make mistakes.
