Was wondering what the community thinks of this ski I came up with a lil while ago.

**don't mind the armada, just thought it fit best on the ski.

aight just thought to show all of you a newer version since my old one was to small**lol**. but here is a preview....


wish i could show the whole ski :(. WAS soooo hard to try replicate what I had first designed. I coudn't replicate the textures in the background so i tried something new, hope you like it.

Well you can't compare yet since I didn't show all of the new ski yet. But I seem to like the new design a bit better. More effort/time was put into it this time.

I also filmed me making the design on photoshop if anyone is interested to see how i did it.

Well the design didn't fit their skis "image" since mine was totally different then their other line of skis so then they offered to make me my own custom ski for me. Which is sick.

the ski is sick. but this is the occupational graphic designer part of me speaking.. now:

Where did you get the images used, were they royalty free stocks? is everything vectorized/in large format ?

Also, I feel that you could've done so much better with the lion/bob marley part at the tips - you would think that you should've done a half and half picture like thing with both parties looking straight ahead, instead of bob leaning to the right - it throws it out of balance.

but it is still by far better than any Armada ski design.







But I go in for small details. I used to create quite a few skidesigns, here is a quick draft of one i made back in 08.

There is a vast difference between a draft and a finished product '*Dos*planker*'. I don't need you to verify that, I'm more than qualified to make that distinction myself thank you.

Sorry for late reply in advance.

I used 3 stock images that are not mine (bob, lion and Africa). Now since they are not mine if I were to get them into production I would be hit hard with copyright infringement, no good. So what I would try to do is, contact the owners, which is hard because I got the images off google (for future reference dont use google images). I would ask the owners for permission to use these images before I do anything to do with the skis production. Now i don't really understand what you mean by "is everything vectorized/in large format" if you could explain that a bit more would be helpful.

Well the Lion and Bob part of the ski was extremely difficult because since there is only a handfull of pictures of bob, it is very hard to find the "perfect" fit picture. Good point though. Also I had to change the resolution/dimensions of the ski so it could fit an actual ski, so bob and the lion fit smaller on the ski then before and so i didn't want to ruin the quality by enlarging the picture.

Well, Skis are a very large medium to work with. for a design to be printed across a ski which is normally up to the length of 182cm your design needs to be big enough to fit that. You can always scale up, but this generates some blurring to an otherwise crisp design. Vector is normally what is used when creating a skidesign, or most large format printed stuff. Vector is basically an object/solidcolored picture that you can scale up as much as you want without blurring because it is generated using Mathematics. Everything done in Adobe Illustrator is vector, therefore skidesigns from alot of companies are often done in Adobe Illustrator. But to me it looked like your design was big enough to fit on a ski.

Ya All my images were big so they can fit perfectly without being blurry. My dimensions were 199 cm tall and 32 cm wide.
