On many forum sites, when somebody quotes a post in a thread, the quote appears just as it does on NS. However, what I like, is that when somebody quotes the quoted post, both quotes are shown in the 'quote' section of the post. This way, it's much easier to follow a discussion in a thread, rather than having to go from quote to quote, reading the conversation in reverse. Does that make sense?
I do however understand how much that clogs up the forums with useless quotes and space. As such, this is my proposal. I vote that when somebody quotes a post, it shows up exactly as it does now on NS. However, if somebody were to quote the quote above, it also stay the same as currently - with one difference. I think on the quote of the post, near the top of the 'quote' section, there should be a little '+' button, or maximize button. When the user clicks on this, it would bring up the entire quote history of the post, that way the reader wouldn't have to search through the (often multiple-page) post for the corresponding quotes.
Does this make sense to everybody?
That's what I think would be ideal. Is it possible?
