Cutting hoodies

How do you put hoodies together from,say walmart. do you cut them and sew and how do you make them longer.

If you get what I am trying to say please help.

This is what I do, its so easy. The easiest way is to cut the hoodie you are really gonna wear kinda at the bottomish, then cut out the middle of the other hoodie (make sure its the same size) and then sew it in to make it nice and tall. There are also other variations you can do like diagonal cuts and such.

would it be the same cutting off arms and hoods then resowing them back on?
id like to put more variation into mine other then making it taller with two diff colors

here is a really shitty picture.  but this hoodie was $5 from target with a $5 piece of fabric sewn in the middle.  it was my very first time ever using a sewing machine so I wanted to keep it simple and cheap in case I screwed it up.  I'm really stoked on a tall hoodie that fits me well for $11 (after taxes) and a little under an hours worth of work.  gonna make my next one from scratch, but hope this helps.

are the sewn lines clearly visible from the outside? did you fold in and sew on inside?
