Help me decide between these Camcorders

made a thread in media, didn't get much response. maybe you guys can help me out
christmas is coming up, so I'm gonna ask for cam. I'm a major cam noob so give me your thoughts on which would be better, or if there's a way better cam in similar price range definitely let me know

so i found this dope looking Sony cam, full HD, would take beautiful videos for 500$. here's the link

On the OTHER hand i found a Sanyo HD cam that's waterproof which would be so nice since I wouldn't have to worry about heavy snow wrecking it
