Colorado residency help please

i'm no expert here but it sounds like your biggest issue is you need to be able to prove that your permanent legal residence is in colorado.  living in the dorms there doesn't qualify otherwise everyone would pay in-state tuition.  They will be fairly strict about this, especially since you currently have nothing really going for you other than going to school already in the state and having a desire to stay there.  The most relevent information:

The following may be considered as evidence of Colorado domicile:

• Payment of Colorado state income tax
• Colorado driver's license. If you have a driver's license from another state, you must apply for a Colorado driver's license within 30 days of moving to Colorado (if you are employed) or within 120 days (if unemployed). If you do not drive, you may obtain a Colorado identification card.
• Colorado vehicle registration. If you operate a motor vehicle, you must register it in Colorado within 30 days of moving to Colorado (if you are employed) or within 120 days (if unemployed).
• Voter registration in Colorado. You may register to vote with your county clerk, or when you obtain your Colorado driver's license, as soon as you move into the State.
• Permanent employment or acceptance of future permanent employment in Colorado.
• Ownership of residential real property in Colorado that is your primary residence. Ownership of vacation or income property is not an indication of domicile.
• Graduation from a Colorado high school.
• Continued residence in Colorado during the summer or during other periods when not enrolled as a student or during periods between academic sessions.
• Other factors particular to your situation may be considered also, and should be documented.

The following may be considered as evidence indicating domicile outside Colorado:

• Failure to pay Colorado state income tax. Filing a nonresident Colorado tax return is persuasive evidence of domicile outside Colorado.
• Failure to comply with any law imposing a mandatory duty on a permanent resident of Colorado. Examples include failure to register a motor vehicle and failure to change your driver's license to Colorado within the statutory periods, as well as failure to file a Colorado state income tax return.
• Return to your former state of residence for a substantial period of time during the summer or during other periods when not enrolled as a student or between academic sessions.
• Maintenance of a home in another state.
• Prolonged absence from Colorado, except for military or civilian government service or for temporary absences required by an employer.
• Any other factor particular to your situation that indicates non-Colorado domicile. Examples include applying for a loan or receiving college financial aid from another state where domicile in that state is a condition for receiving funds, and voting or registering to vote in another state.

basically you have a lot of work to do and some significant changes to make before you'll even have a chance at this.

The hardest thing is to prove where all your money comes from. You need to show where all the money you had originally 18months prior to your application for residency and show you have made money in CO. You can't have a single check from your parents. NOT EVEN A BDAY GIFT OF 10BUCKS. You can receive "gifts" from grandparents up to 10k, but you need to have a notarized letter with those gifts saying they are a one time gift and not from the parents or expecting reimbursement. Go talk to the office at your school that deals with residency. Keep all your bank statements W2 forms and all that shit. I ended up taking a year off of school and working construction in Denver to get residency. It saved me 75K over the last 3 years and gave me in state tuition for school now which is going to save me over 100K so it is worth it to take a little time off and bust ur ass off to make some cash to pay for school and get in state.
