FKS 155 + Bent Chetler

How does this setup sound?? can you find bigger brakes for FKS though???
my friend was telling me you had to do something different to mount FKS bindings on to powder skis but i didn't really understand him so is it possible?

dope setup but you're gonna need to bend the brakes which involves taking the binding apart, having the proper tools including a vise, and being very tech savvy

i heard that fks are not a good binding to put on pow skis due to the narrow mounting pattern ...and that they rip out easy...just going by what i've heard not personal experience

seems to be the only form of evidence i've heard for that claim

I've ridden fks on plenty of fat skis and never had an issue with ripping them out and never had problems with the compact hole pattern

i think this is what my friend was tallking about he said something like having to reinforce the holes cause bindings might rip out... im not too sure

Unless you have the new FKS you must bend the brakes to fit on the ski. This involves disassembling the heel plate and taking the brakes out, then either heating them up and bending them, or just muscling it out. There is a thread on TGR that explains the process pretty well.

Basically, they are metal threads that can be put in the ski to screw the bindings into, sort of like those on a snowboard.  They work well if you previously had a binding rip-out because they use a bigger hole than a normal binding screw does, so you can just drill out the old, stripped hole, put in heli-coils, and mount the binding as usual without drilling any new holes.  When you do this, it is very hard to rip-out the binding because of the metal threads they create.

I got bent chetlers for christmas!! but yeah, the fks bindings will probably work fine, but the bindings are kind of a risk to bend, i broke both of my breaks, iven though i used proper tools.. i will use my jesters on them

fks on Moment Comi's (136mm) and no probs.. the wider hole pattern is pretty much a myth (although it is true the sheer width of the ski can create serious torque but only a problem if you're riding your pontoons or whatever down a super G course).

But take super care if you're going to bend. It's easy enough, but the heels, despite the "nuclear-bomber-all-metal" construction, are held together by small plastic tabs which you can break without even noticing, if you're not careful.

Having said all that, do it. Fks + Pow ski. You will not regret it.
