Replying to Help with xbox 360 controller

So I have the old WIRED controller, and the wire coming out of the controller i guess is not touching the wire connecting to the controller, so it does not turn on..

Anyone have any idea on how to fix this? I was think of taking it apart, strip the wire connecting to the motherboard in the controller, and then striping another wire on the cord, and then connect new wires to the two parts I stripped, to kind of make a new circuit.
