Mini Rant: Non descriptive outerwear descirptions

So Looking for a new jacket seems extremely difficult this year because of half assed product descriptions. You would think the best place to get information would be directly from the brands website, but it seems majority simply have a picture and a few generic specs, or an unrelated story about the pieces name, its really not that helpful. You would think at a minimum you would be able to tell if the piece is insulated or just a shell, but I have found 4 brands now who apparently do not think that is relevant information to buyers. I will not mention names but this seems pretty typical of most of the brands

Note: No I can't just go to a shop and see, I am looking for something higher end then the 3in1s generally carried in most shops here

Sparks Notes for the Lazy: Outerwear companies need to start providing more relevant specs and descriptions on their websites

I've noticed that a lot too. It kind of pisses me off how the companies think that only their athlete's name will sell the product. I mean, there are some smart buyers out there that like to know what they're paying for...

believe it or not, some technical aspects of the jacket make a big difference.


i hate this too. Usually i find that Backcountry.com has the best, most organized and descriptive statistics on clothing. but a lot of the time they will have some info on one thing, but not on the other. I've seen this with the skis, like one will have core info, the other wont, One will have base material and the other wont. pisses me off when i try to compare things

They are kind of going the direction of bar drinks.  How are they related?  At the restaurant I worked at the menu would just show an awesome picture of the margarita or whatever it is, show some of the ingredients, but didn't include the price!  Outerwear companies are starting to do that too, as proved by the guy a few posts of above, to cater to just how it looks with a few basic functions instead of actually comparing the waterproofing, fabric durability, extra features, hood form, etc.

I've seen this with other products and more recently with cars cause I'm trying to buy one. If I were trying to sell something I'd have a lot of pictures and a really good description. Like some cars don't even have the transmission listed, that's ridiculous.

i think this is because these statistics are provided by the manufacturers, and not every ski company provides statistics like weight and base material

but yeah, it's counterproductive for companies not to provide information on their products, otherwise they're not going to get many customers...
