Help with Canon T1I in Photoshop Raw

OK,
so I just recently got myself a Canon t1i (Love it).

But when i plug it into the computer, the case for the plug says, "do not plug in until u install canon software".
so i install with the disc that it comes with, and then i go to upload my photos, first i try it with canons software. Thinking it worked, i go to bridge to view and use in photoshop.
No luck. It says that photoshop doesnt suport this file.
Then i try uploading in bridge.
Same exact thing.
I then download adobes dng converter hoping that will help.
IT cant convert the files.

Can soemone Please help me with this, Its quite frustrating.

I had the same problem, open it or find it in digital photo professional that was on the CD, then go to tools - transfer to photoshop and it will take a few seconds and then it will convert it to a tiff file and open it in ps for you.

Whats the difference between a .tiff and raw?

Is there any way that i could transfer them for photoshop into bridge?
cause i have my whole workflow setup in bridge and i would hate to lose it.

no problem man, i don't work with bridge much so i can't really help you with that. but the difference between a tif and raw is now you can basically make it whatever you want, a psd file, jpeg, gif, whatever, that's just the file type that canon's software puts into photoshop for you. I don't think photoshop can open raw files or at least the raw files from a t1i.

i have the same problem with my Nikon D90.  I downloaded all the updates and everything but ended up converting to .dng then importing

now I use Lightroom and it takes them in .nef  while photoshop doesnt. wierd. but Lightroom is so much easier to work with.

no its not unless you have means of downloading it.  and its not part of the abobe suite but adobe makes it.  I'm not sure if it works with bridge (dont really use bridge).  It does have its own library just not like Bridge does. If you've seen iPhoto it has the same layout but a lot more tools. Really easy to edit a lot of photos at once and convert all your files when you're done.
