Do any of you listen to music that gives you a visual which relates to a happy/sad time? Like say associating a song with a part of a movie or associating the song, it's words and beat to a time of your life? This happens to me all the time.I'm just wondering if anyone else often relates the music they're listening to to visuals or past experiences and if it can immediately change the way they feel at that time.

I used to volunteer in the Music Therapy department in the hospital where I used to live. It's an absolutely fascinating field if you're interested in how music affects and relates to your psychology. So what you said about how it relates you to a happy/sad time is true, and classical music supposedly calms you during tests and babies actually respond to it in utero. Its so interesting.

I seem to associate all the songs I hear on ski videos with sick skiing, so I get psyched every time I hear them. Some of them I'm not sure I'd even like if I hadn't heard them on a cool vid.

yeah for sure. some songs remind me of shitty times so i get depressed and others remind me of good times so im happy. also there are some songs that i relate to skiing so that gets me pumped and ready to ski and shit.

Whenever I first buy a CD, I listen to it a lot, and then kind of stop when the songs start to get stuck in my head all the time. But later when I go back and listen to those songs, they bring back memories of when I always used to listen to them.
