Just a Little Idea

soo, i came across a small, yet annoying problem today on ns. i was reading through b/s/t threads, and i clicked on probably half of them twice thinking "oh, this sounds good" only to see a thread that i had seen today or in the past few days. don't say "oh, don't be stupid and remember what you clicked on" because when there are 50 threads per page, it gets a little annoying.

so, my proposition is to have some sort of marking feature that shows you that you already read the thread. i know nothing about creating forums, so i don't know how hard it would be to make this. if it's really that hard, then it's not a big deal... but i'm just curious.

and also, if someone has already brought up this idea, sorry... haha

excellent idea. I hate clicking a a sale thats like SAGA/OAKLEY/JIBERISH VERY CHEAP

and having it all be size small and not remembering that i already saw that thread

Sweet idea. When you click a google link it turns a different colour. Maybe something like that can work.

I'm on some other forums and what they do is make the ones that you havent seen in bold, and the ones you have seen not in bold, or maybe a lighter color like grey.

i think bold and un-bold would just kinda be annoying. gray is (or potentially could be) hard to read.

i think the best would be to have blue and purple like google. just sayin'

haha. anyone that could make this happen wanna reply??

All you need is a little icon to the right of the thread like in podcasts in iTunes. There is an un-read icon, a read icon, and a new content since last read icon.

this. a couple other forums i read (that use invision powerboard) have a little icon in front of the thread if there's been new posts since you've looked at it last. if you click that icon, it takes you straight to the first new post since you last checked the thread, which is awesome. i'm not sure how well something like that would scale to NS, since it's a much larger site than the others a read. it might slow things down even more than they already are.
