HV20 owners read this. Battery Question

Hi, I am building a handle for my hv20. currently I only have the stock size batteries but I am wondering how much further out cannons larger battery sticks. I want to build the handle large enough to fit the larger battery.

Also does anyone have any suggestions for building a handle that will balance but still accommodate an external mic in the hot shoe?

sorry if this is more gear talk I didn't know what to choose

nah, this is media & arts stuff

my extended batery only sticks out about 1 cm, theres not too much to worry about

how big is your mic, my simple handle fits a dm-50 easily

and to ^, i really like the cam, great quality video, probably best you can get without paying for big prosumer cams

no lens in the picture, just a lens hood that you can get anywhere for like $15 and a focus ring from http://irvdesign.com/product/mfr/, although he's been sold out forever. I also have a $40 opteka super wide angle lens, cant find a link right now

you have a nice hv set up. that focus ring is awesome. I just do not want the handle to be that high. I am looking for a lower mic (than the cannon one) but I was thinking maybe just put the mic out to the side and make a super low handle.

mine can be adjusted to be about 2 inches lower when i dont have the mic on it

yeah thats cool with the 2 sets of holes. does anyone know of a mic that fits the hot shoe but pretty much goes out to the side instead of up?

dont think any mics are going to stick to the side, but you could use a bracket like this
