Here's my ramble- I've never ridden Angel Fire, but have driven by it. The park is apparently amazing. But here are my observations on Taos town:
Taos city (more like a town) is an interesting and weird mix of people.
It's the the usual strip mall sprawl entrance, which goes on for miles, and then a smattering of galleries and old adobe buildings in the downtown, and then there's amazing stuff like the view of the Enchanted Circle from the Low Road, the Ranchos de Taos church (of Ansel Adams and O'Keefe fame), the pueblo, the Rio Grande Bridge, etc.
Pretty cool place to visit, but as for living there, I'm not sure about the vibe, it's sounds somewhat raw with a the very rich and very poor and a little bit in between.
Oh, right, Taos Ski Valley is amazing. Unfortunately the weather cooperated the day I had to leave, with a 24 inch dump that closed all the upper chairs.
