My friend bought a stolen laptop

so my friend has been saving up money to get a laptop all summer, and he finally gets like $800, so he goes on eBay and finds a laptop and decides to get it.
when they get it the computer is locked, so they went to a tech-store and got them to unlock it.
so when he turns it on there's a bunch of pictures of some random chick, so he finds her name and phone number on the computer, so he calls her and asks if her computer was stolen or anything.
so it turns out the chicks house had been robbed, so now he basically has to give it back.

So my question is, will eBay or paypal cover it?

file a complaint with ebay and the fbi, worst case whoever is selling stolen shit will get their account closed, best case your friend gets his money back and the crook goes to jail

Wow your friend is an honest guy and really, theres missing people like this these days...
I don't know what Paypal can do with a situation like this, I know they can ban the account the guy was using (happened to me with Nigerian fraud for my camera) but I have no clue if you can get a full refund..

tough to say in this situation, but you would have to almost assume that by contacting the lady, calling the cops, and telling paypal/ebay that he could get his money back, its a good Samaritan thing. I'm 80% sure he will get his money back.

if you live in washington get jesse, then you will be able to be on the news too. for those who don't know get jesse is where if you have a problem like this you can call this big black guy (jesse) who will get to the bottom of things and then they put it on the news its dope.

when my sisters laptop was stolen it was covered on insurance so im sure something can be worked out for him to get his money back.

hey speaking of banned accounts, i have a question. my account was suspeneded in july. i only had it open for about a week. i wrote a couple emails, but they never really told me why it was suspended, but i think it's because the person that lived in my apartment before me never changed the address or something gay like that. has anyone every had a problem like this?
