Interesting fact: Mullen's dad wanted him to be a dentist like he was and thought that skateboarding was childish and just a temporary thing. But, when Rodney was just learning, the boards being made at that time were too wide to do the pogos, flips, and grabs that he was trying to throw down on flat ground. So, he used his dad's tools to cut his boards in a way that made them resemble something like the double kick tail model we're used to today and he'd practice all his moves in his barn/garage. The dude's actually really smart to. Went to college and has a degree in engineering, I believe. Props to "The Mutt" for being so kick ass!
-Moral of the story: Thank God skiing's been around long enough so that we don't have to completely alter our skis to make them able to jibb the shit out of stuff!
Anybody remember that segment he had where, instead of music, it just had an extract of A Brief History of Time? I still think of Stephen Hawking every time I see Rodney skate.
Per Welinder. He was the only skater to ever beat Rodney in his competition days. Type his name in Youtube and check out the first few vids that pop up. I still think Mullen's got him topped.
The dude is insane and I believe he sold he soul for these skills hahahaha. Definitely the most influential skater of all time. Also, he has for sure reached GOAT status.
