Need some help ns...

alright so me and my friends have this trip to colorado all planned out like free lodging and lift tickets for a week and all that...

the only problem is we live in indiana, the cheapest way to get there is to drive, its like an 18 hour drive...

my friends parents are down with the trip and us driving, my dad is down with the plan, however my mom does no want us to drive out there. she would rather us fly which is like 400 dollars a person...

so after some persuading by me ive gotten no where... my dad said he'd try and talk with her but she thinks ill just flip and all of us in my car (a 4 wheel drive jeep) will die... its stupid!

the guy who we are staying with said if the weather is bad he'd meet us in denver and take us to copper mountain where we are staying...

my mother goes well thats fine he will take you through the mountains but what about in between denver and here? i told her its all fucking kansas and is just as flat as indiana, and its all inerstate driving... literally only like from my house to the interstate, and then its 70 all the way...

oh and im only 17 my friend is only 17 and the other gut is only 20... we are WAY to inexperienced to drive 18hours...

so if anyone is still reading this rant and wants to help me out, drop me an idea or two...

tell her you will check the weather religiously, that should the weather turn bad you will be responsible and stop overnight or something, that you have a quality vehicle for possible adverse conditions, and that she is being irrational and if she wants you to fly so badly then she should pay for the tickets, seeing that it is her concern.

if she wants you to fly, she can pay for everyone's tickets.
just say you will take lots of stops and switch up whos driving the whole time.
tell her you're 17 years old, and old enough to drive far.

Dude.. there's such an easy way around this. You're 17 so you got to make it seem as if she still has control over you.


Just say that you will gladly take a road hazard test (you know the one which makes you learn how to respond quicker in difficult conditions, dont know what its called in the US), and that that should be good enough proof that you are able enough to handle the roads.

Have you driven with her a lot? This may have something to do with it... She's just being protective.


Not that this helps but I drove quite a lot when I first got my license in the alps. Parents were worried at first, you just got to give them a reason to trust you.

tell your mom you'll have your "co-pilot" check in with her every 50 miles. hopefully she'll get sick of it after a few calls and get over it. I left my home country when I was 17...and here I am, still alive at 25.

call her every 15 min and tell her everything that you see, hear, feel... in about 2 hours she'll be like okay... call me ONCE when youre headed home
