Is it just me, or did the new back to back family guy on sunday suck dick? I was anticipating all my laughter, which is usually safe to do with Family Guy, only to find that the joke wasn't funny. Either they're running out of material, or they're being censored by their corporate sponsors. Either way, unless the next episode is funnier, I'd say I'm about done with that megacorp show.
Family guy is ok. I still get some kicks out of it when I'm bored and have nothing to do. South Park on the other hand has just gotten stale...I never laugh anymore when I watch it. Pretty much the same level of stupidity and crudeness that it always has been. After more than ten seasons I'm pretty sure any show will get boring. Although there are a few gems out of the past few seasons, I will admit.
Futurama was the shit! Phillip J. Fry is my brotha from anotha motha.
the problem with south park is that they dont know how to be subtle. things are as funny if you just throw them right in your face and basically shout out loud what the joke is.
hence why the simpsons/futurama are so great.
i have not watched family guy in over 3 months. I'm mad because i was so into it and then i just stopped watching it. i have volumes 1-6 on dvd and love them all. but i also heard that this is going to be the last season or something of family guy, because they are running out of ideas so they are going to stop production.
southpark is very very down right now, though when they show the re-runs on tv those are freakin gold.
last night they had the "simpsons did it" one where cartman mixes little "sea people" with sperm haha and he wants 5 gallons from the sperm bank so freakin funny haha.
I feel the exact same way now. In the old episodes of southpark, every one was a social commentary. They seemed to be able to hide it better. Now Matt and Trey just come out and tell everyone what they are commenting on.
I chalk it up to people getting dumber and not being able to understand satire without it being yelled at them.
If anyone is interested, go watch a few episodes from like the first 3 or 4 seasons then go look up that specific episode on wikipedia. There's more being "said" in an episode than you could imagine. References to absolutely everything.
the thing is even with south park being in your face with its social commentary i'm willing to bet 75% of its audience still does not get the context outside of 8 year olds in elementary school.
exactly, theyre not subtle anymore and its just blatant social commentary. and they make what would be one joke in any other show into the basis of the entire show... south park has been really lame lately
