It seems that the performance and graphics of both systems right now are VERY similar, neither one is necessarily better they're just different. You would have to look very closely or actually run performance tests to notice a difference with regards to graphics and power. That being said I think that the PS3 will have a longer shelf life and maybe better graphics/performance eventually because it is the more powerful system.
I'm glad NS (or at least you) has finally gotten over the games debate, most games are multi platform these days anyways. Both systems have great exclusive games so it really is a non factor IMO. That is unless you're a die hard fan of a certain game franchise.
Then there's the controllers, once again personal preference. Xbox 360 controllers are more ergonomically comfortable but PS3's are symmetrical and have better buttons IMO so overall I like them better.
PS3 seems to have more multimedia capabilities (most notably BluRay) but don't quote me on that one.
Most people claim that Xbox Live is better than PSN, I don't know I don't really have much experience with the former. Just remember that you have to pay for Xbox Live.
Both systems are now virtually the same price anywhere too.
It really comes down to personal preference, and if you're into online play what your friends have. I used to own an Xbox 306, then I got the RROD and exchanged it for a PS3 and I couldn't be happier.
