Broken leg

Actually around this time 10 years ago or so now (damn it's been a while); I broke my right shin in a dirtbike accident. Went through the whole resetting of the leg, to physical therapy etc.  The one thing I can tell you is this...

Don't rush treatment. Get your calcium, rest your legs, and follow your doctor's orders. I remember screwing around on my crutches and slipped on some ice and pushed my recovery back for stupid crap.  Chances are you'll be out for a while, try to find something to take your mind off missing a season.  Even after you're out of your casts and onto PT you'll have another good few weeks or months before you're back to even 80-90%.  From broken leg in Nov to fully healed and ready to do sports again was probably around April or so, so figure almost 5 months. 12 weeks in casts, and then another few weeks of PT and getting back mentally.

dude sorry but i don't think you'll make it on a hill this season. my friend broke his leg skiing last easter, still has his metal pole in his leg so that's another operation to get that out and then another recovery period after that.

ya like the first poster said never rush recovery. i broke my collar bone and august and because im a dumbass and screwed around i rebroke it before it was even healed and i wont be cleared to ride dirtbikes till december. but thank god they are letting me ski. sorry you have to go through that. and get better soon!

sorry man, but i think you're gonna have to wait till next season, if its that bad idt theres much you can do... brace yourself for the upcoming long post, but I read in a book that I read for karate that there was a karate master who was attempting a demonstration when he was going to break 9 one inch concrete slabs with a single punch, and he shattered his fist. He went to the hospital and the only way to let it heal was to operate and hold all the pulverized pieces together with wires; the doctors said it would be like a year until he got partial use of his hand. At nights, before he went to bed, he imagined his hand was being worked on by a crew of construction workers who he envisioned welding the bone fragments together in his hand. He did this every night, concentrating so hard as to even imagine individual slogans and brand names on the shirts of the workers, and in two weeks, he went to see his doctor, and he was out of his cast, with his knuckle bones even overhealed - they were fused together partially. He sent him home and told him he would have a stiff hand, but instead of envisioning people welding together his hand, he thought of those same construction men with chisels, sanding tools, and oil lubricating and making his hand operate more smoothly. He saw his doctor again, and his hand had fully healed within 10 weeks, while he originally thought it would take over a year, just from his state of mind.
Granted, this guy is a martial arts master who studied in Korea and Japan for decades, and while you probably still aren't going to be able to hit the slopes till next season, I think it's definitely worth a try to see if you can accelerate the process by even a week or two for shits and giggles if anything else. Call me full of shit, but there might be something there. In case if you're interested, the book's called Zen in the Martial Arts by Joe Hyams (he studied with Bruce Lee). Hope this helps somewhat.

cant really help you out much, but i just broke both bones in my shin last friday, im in the same situatuion as you man.. it sucks so much.

ive just been sittin at my house doin nothing and i cant see anything getting better untill i can ski again.. im hopin to be skiin by summer.

how come youve been in the hospital so long though? i broke my tibia and fibula on friday and had surgery that night and got discharged saturday night
