Need a song about small towns ASAP

So for my English class, we read Winesburg,Ohio by Sherwood Anderson. As part of the final project we need to make a "soundtrack" for the book. One of the required topics is small towns.
If you have ever read this book, you know that it's view on small town life is not the sterotypical, happy place you see in many books/movies/songs. Rather, it's shown as a lonely place, where people's hopes and dreams die, and where everyone's constantly being judged/talked about. In addition for many characters in the stories, it's a dead end place, you can never really get out of.
If anyone could find me a song about these ideas, that'd be awesome, I've gone through my entire itunes library and I don't have anything that's quite right.
Thanks

woah, sorry about the italics, I should've previewed my post before I posted it.
To whoever posted it, if you're talking about that song that starts off "I was born in a small town" (I think the title is "Small town" actually) if you look/listen to the lyrics, it seems to portray the town in a nostalgic light, which is the opposite of what I need

yeah it can be just about anything, as long as my teacher can understand/hear the lyrics (some kid tried some sort of death metal once, which she said was fine, but she didn't understand what they were saying)
Oh, and I'd prefer something that didn't drop any N-bombs, obviously.
