Fixing outerwear

i searched it and found nothing.
 so i was thinking i have a pair of snowpants that have some small tears in them but i also thought that this could be a thread about general questions about fixing outerwear.

again i searched it and there was nothing so forgive me if its a repost

Depending on the size of the tear you can try covering it with duct tape.

I know that sounds stupid, but I got a hole in a pair of rain pants a few years ago. I covered it with duct tape. This one small piece of duct tape has survived a lot of hard wear and been through the washing machine almost a dozen times. Its waterproof. You can get it in black/pink/green if you don't like the standard gray. What more could you ask for?

this is true and thanks, but i am trying to get them to look as nice as possible so i can sell them because they are good snowpants. also is it possible to get out rail grease?

To get rid of rail grease take a lemon, cut it in half and rub it on the stain, take your outerwear outside and let it dry up in the sun. Take it inside and wash it up with a wet cloth.
Trust me it works.

^ that sounds like a good idea for rail grease. be careful with detergents b/c most things strong enough to be effective will penetrate and damage the waterproofing.

for tears flip your pants inside out and make a small cut on the inside liner. apply seam tape or patch then sew the inside cut back up. you can buy small amounts of seam tape or patches you can apply your self at most outdoor stores. make sure you buy compatible tape/patch depending if your fabric is 2 layer or 3 layer lamination.

if you cant find tape.patch use duct tape on the inside backing the same way and iron it on warm (not hot)
