What tricks do you need to "compete"?

I'm thinking of trying my first comp this year and want some advice from you guys, what are some tricks i should have down for sure to actually compete at an am event

dub cork, switch dub, dub flatspin, etc.


kidding. probably more than a 3 for sure. sometimes a switch 7 or some sort of inverted 7 can take it but usually sytle + spin to win is best (the right combo)

dub corks....switch dubs.... if i had those i wouldn't be asking about am events would I haha!

I'm gonna try to get down a 7 this year for sure

i have a friend whos won a couple comps by having 180 sw 180 and 360s dialed. and some 270 outs and stuff. nothing major just add your own style and stuff.

If its nothing serious there might be beginner levels where a 360 and a smooth rail slide should win it but then you have kids sand bagging throwing out 5s and different rail tricks, but I guess it is all relative.

you need to be able to slide a rail and atleast do a 3 to have fun in a comp

for jumps i would say be comfortable with fives off of L jumps. and just show i variety of tricks. but most importantly ski for yourself and have fun!

depends on the kind of am comps you are talking here. local smaller am comps, probably a 7 could win it, with maybe some spins off rails. larger am comps, you need inverts and more rail skills

1. how old are you? that will determine your class (j1, j2, j3, j4.)
2. what tricks can you do already and what are you thinking about throwing this year?
3. steez is the name of the game, judges love a stylie 3 rather than a hucked 9.
4. you need to have fun in comps to do good, especially your first year.
