that is cork, doing it in moguls is way different coz you cant carve off the jump. But thats pretty shit air form if he wants to do it as a jump in his olympic run.

anyone who has the balls to pop a ten of any kind in the moguls deserves mad respect in my opinion, I can hardly land an "on axis" seven in the bumps and I've been at it for years.

Quite a few people are doing cork/d 10's in the bumps right now. Doing tricks on mogul jumps is so much scarier than on park jumps, they are like 1/4 the size so you have to hit them so fast in relation to jump size if you want to boost. That means your timing has to be way better. Not to mention that you land and ski straight into a mogul section, try landing backseat and afterbanging into that.

I can't wait till double are allowed in moguls

well said. i kinda quit cause i sucked at hitting the jumps and didnt like them. the few times i really actually popped and aired felt epic though... i skied with patrick (italicized because his dad is called pat he is patrick) two summers ago at mogul camp /claim

What a dumb comment.

Just when I start to get hope that NS is gaining some maturity, a thread like this has to get responses from 15 year olds to dash my hopes. 

I guarantee no one on this site would even dream of ripping a huge line of bumps with zero transition into a hit, land and go right into another section of bumps with a ton of speed. 

But then people like this person I quoted somehow classify world-class as only a newschool skiing attribute.

Stand up off your ass turn you chair upside and please sit back down. 

The majority of the people you consider "world class skiers" tried moguls and never made it. 

Pat is already a "world class skier"- he skis on the World Cup and won the WC Finals last year in Japan.  He also stands a very good chance of skiing in the Olympics... Most people doing cork 10s have done none of these things.

Moguls are so epic at that level - but they do make me laugh watching them - not sure if it's a nervous laugh for the skiier's knees / general death on sketchy kickers with zero landing to more death moguls in the blink of an eye...

Wonder if anyone would be ballsy enough to squeeze a 180 in and hit the kicker switch...... nuuutttts!

mogul airs require that you're 100% on point with your trick, especially your takeoff or you will most likely die. a Cork 10 or D 10 on a mogul air is about 100 times more difficult than on a park jump.

That being said, a cork 10 is nothing new for moguls, and I don't know why that website said he was "secretly training" or that the video was an "exclusive" of any kind. I can think of at least five or six guys in the US that can do the trick, and many of them don't have an olympic spot.

cork 10's in general are pretty tough, i can do em off park jumps but i couldnt do one in the moguls and i have skied them since i was like 10, i did try and land switch last year and did a cork 9, rode it out until the finish line

While I agree that it's a physically impressive feat, I think the focus on the objective "completion" of a particular trick over aesthetics is problematic. It's hurt moguls in the past (daffy triple twisters and whatnot)...and residue of the same mindset can be found in our freestyle too.

HUCKED!! they need to update mogul courses and throw some park jumps not those mini booters. that would make it way cooler. a long time aog there was some mogul/rail/jump comp. they should jsut switch over to that

I disagree, the fact that the jump has such a short transition makes it so much more intense to watch. I mean a guy can come flying down super fast and then all of a sudden bust out a nice floaty trick. The transition is U shaped so by the time you hit the last mogul you have to like the bottom of that U to be totally ready for the jump, haha. It is the scariest feeling if you get a little backseat and you are like 3 bumps from the jump.If you had a big park jump then it would be like less "flow" to the course. in my opinion.

they have already changed courses to do bigger tricks though. The jumps used to be like 1/3 and 2/3 down the course. Now they are more like 1/4 and 3/4 so you like basically gain as much speed as you can and then do a jump, and then you have a way longer middle section, so you have to actually ski it pretty well, and then you can do harder tricks on the bottom jump since the outrun is relatively short.

naaa man mike's run is 720 mute and flat 360 japan.. and he did that in a forerun of a world cup.
it was alexandre bilodeau who did it at the 2006 olympics, missed his landing and finished like 8 or something.

Tignes had a very cool mogul contest at the Airwave last season.  The angles in this show what goes into hitting a mogul air big. Also keep in mind that these skis are not 80-90 underfoot... more like under 70.   An event such as this would be a blast at Vail.

Daron Rahlves can't do a cork 10, and he is definitely a world class skier.

Seth Morrison can't do a cork 10.

Zach Crist can't do a cork 10.

Eric Roner can't do a cork 10.

I could go on forever, there are numerous guys who are world class but cannot do a cork 10.  People who are racers, big mountain guys, or bump skiers can be world class without being great in the park.  There is more to being a world class skier than just park tricks.

As others have mentioned, doing a d-1080 in the bumps is VERY different than doing one in the park.  It is night and day, you cannot even compare the two.  What Jonny Moseley did was awesome.  Moseley opened the door for innovation, and completely changed the game.  It takes an amazing skier to ski the moguls perfectly, do a 360 mute off the top air, ski the next section, do a cork 7, land it and ski the final section without a bobble.  The skiers putting together these runs are undoubtedly among the best in the world.  They are not just guys hitting park jumps, they are really skiing.

What sucks is that had Moseley won the gold, some of the guys that went the park route would have gone into bumps instead.  Moseley mad a lot of money, but had he won in 2002 it would have put bump skiing on the map even more.  The judges fucked it up, and though they got it right in 2006, they still lost a generation of skiers.
