I have the GoPro Hero Wide. I paid $150 for it. It's OK. Video is of decent quality, but the video always seems so distant, even when I try to get close ups of friends. Overall, I'd rate it a 6 out of 10...
My main complaint is the lack of any sort of remote. Always having to check to see if you recording or if your out of memory or battery dead is a PITA. I constantly have to take my helmet off, check the status and put it back on. Or go up to a friend and ask, is the "red light flashing?"
A simple audio feature that beeps loudly with different tones for things like, recording, running out of memory, battery dying, turning off/on, etc, would be nice.
There are times where just doing a "press and guess" will work, but I have had many of quality shots lost by lack of feedback. Example, at the Dumont cup I was riding behind wallish and a big crew of PROs bombing down a trail. The battery was just low enough to look like it was good to go, but I only got a couple seconds of video before it died...
I also am not a fan of the attachments. I've broken most of my mounts during half of my season last year. Sure you can buy new mounting kits, but some of the breaks were just from bad quality plastics and design...
Looks like the HD version has much better quality video from this edit...
You look like a total gaper wearing them. If your confident, it's no big deal, but when you get a ton of Joeys, moms and dads all going "Is that a camera on your head? "Does it take pictures" "Wow, it shoots video!!! How???" it gets old...
As long as you know you look stupid, and are super attractive to gappers (kinda like skinny jeans), it's an awesome camera :)
I broke down and got the P.O.V 1.5. Paid $420 for it. PM me for the deal...
