Long Walk To Freedom; The Autobiography of Nelson Mandella
He was an activist against the apartheid in South Africa. And went on to become the first black president of south africa, in the first truly representative election. I though his story was pretty well known around the world, but then again I am from south africa so I probably hear more about him.
Oh, you know... he wasn't one of the key members of people that fought against Apartheid in South Africa and was their first black president... yeah, no big deal and it isn't something you generally learn in school at some point.
and they honestly never did teach it in school here in Wyoming. Don't ask me why. The best reason i can come up with, is that it's Wyoming we're talking about here.
Nelson Mandela was considered an enemy of the South African state because he ated all da fried Chikkinz at da KFC, an' they was all "HELL naW!!" an threw his ass in jail.
I've heard of the overthrow of the apartheid, and knew the general story behind it, but i just didn't really know specifics, like i said, its never been really taught, at all. gotta love the public school system.
and "take a minute." i first heard it in every day is a saturday, and instantly loved it.
What do you think of that movie? It's PG-13, but I'm still kinda excited for it.
Morgan Freeman, Matt Damon & directed by Clint Eastwood? Damn. Damon's accent seems kinda shitty though, as far as I can tell from the previews. Other than that, I like what I see.
It's called Invictus, for anyone who is wondering.
Nope, lived in Canada most my life. My family is Canadian/South African (of English heritage) so I never learned. My dad speaks it though since it is mandatory in schools there.
