first off, i know im an idiot for driving drunk. please dont respond with bullshit like "your stupid"

but my question is: will i get piss tested after my court date, and should i stop smoking now?

how old are you? it would assume you dont have a job or have to pay car insurance or have to pay for a lawyer or anything like that since you asked about smoking, which should probably be the least of your concerns as someone mentioned.

i was arrested for dui. but forked over some extra cash for a good lawyer. bing bang bong i dont have a dui. still had a fine, dui classes, and court fees. but no dui, insurance never went up, no problem getting a job, and no piss test.  and fuck you guys that said no one should answer to this post. why wouldnt you try to help a fellow newschooler out.

you guys need to chill the fuck out...the old NS would never act this gay. The kid clearly realizes he made a mistake and I'm pretty sure he won't ever make the same mistake again. Shit happens, life goes on, noone got hurt and it's not the end of the world.

Dude if I was you I would google it or ask your question on yahoo answers or something. My guess is they will test you, so stop smoking, but to get a definitive answer do some research.

Learn from your mistake and don't let it happen again. Get a lawyer, get the shit dropped, and think before your actions, no matter how inconvenient because just about every stupid decision like that has consequences that could potentially cause so much drama in the future.

yeah you guys are ignorant, i have friends that have gotten dui's for being high and sitting in their car.
It really depends on the cop and court, i have one friend who does breathalyzers every week
good luck, i doubt they will drug test you unless maybe if you are a juvenile and on probation

I had a friend die from drinking and driving, so yes i do think it was a dumb fucking choice on his part.

I bet they wont test you unless you had any drugs on you when you got the dui.  I dont know from any personal experience, its just a guess but its not a bad idea to quit smoking just in case.  And like others said, invest in a good lawyer.

thank you. i have already learned from my mistake, although i was hardly drunk and in perfect driving condition, i will never get behind the wheel again with alcohol in my system because it simple isnt worth it. but thanks for your answer, i guess i should just wait until i hire my attorney to figure all this shit out.

yea man, in the mean time I would stop smoking just so you can avoid the possibility of getting hit with a failed drug test, because that will look awful in court. I'm 24 and I don't even drive after like 3 beers, and I am completely sober. Live and learn bro...just remember what it's like to get arrested  and avoid problems in the future (fighting, stealing, whatever)

talk to your lawyer, you'll likely get it dropped and be fine, let him do the work for you. good luck

fine. i have a friend who got one. he got a good lawyer and got it dropped down to negligence. he hit a stone wall going 80 miles an hour (he should be dead, not even a seatbelt on) and blew a .2 or something. so get yourself lawyered up, and deal with the programs that you have to deal with. the programs will suck ass, big time. you will lose your license for a while, could be as few as a couple months. deal with it, its gonna be ok but the key is getting a lawyer who can help you drop it down.

you will definitely be put on some sort of probation, and you will almost definitely be tested during it. and if you fail a drug test after a DUI you will definitely be fucked up the ass no lube

Yes, drunk driving isn't cool. But it's not as simple as you think. People dismissing it and just saying "fuck you, you're an asshole etc" are full of shit. It's super easy to get a DUI! Sometimes you just have to get home, and you've had a couple glasses of wine, or have had a 40. You are great to drive, but that tail-light goes out and the cop sees a bottle of Merlot...

I won't lie, I have driven shitfaced many, many times back in the day during College. It's not a smart idea, but it definitely happens! The kids who die are the ones going fast, racing, driving wild, driving so drunk they can't see straight. Once again, I don't condone it at all, but stop hating so much!!

Personally, I am a better driver after a couple glasses of wine or after a 40, because I become severely more focused and into it, simply. Does this mean I should get a DUI? No. Be responsible, don't be dumb.


As far as the weed goes, you should be fine, they usually by law have to alert you if you are taking any drug tests for the first time etc.

obviously he said he fucked up and learned from his mistakes so whats wrong with helping the kid out. No comment you guys say about how stupid he is is going to change the fact that he got a DUI.

Now everyone is taking shit about if he should smoke weed or not, from what I gathered so far on this site (which isnt much) is that alot of you guys smoke weed. So now you are hating on him for asking a legitimate question, wtf?

OP if I knew the answer to whether or not you will get tested I would tell you....but I don't so I would play it safe and not smoke weed until your done with court and shit

A father, mother, a son? Please consider these consequences next time you consider ever driving drunk again. Walking, longboarding, scootering, riding a hooker, taking a cab. All easy alternatives and will not kill someone.

And you are worried about being drug tested? Maybe you should re-evaluate the priorities in your life.

hey so I got a dui the beginning of this summer. Shitty stuff, I got pulled over for 7 over. It has completely passed over. Get a lawyer for sure, you should be able to get it off your record. It has had no serious impact on me since, except for the fact that I'm not driving drunk again. And your lawyer should be able to get it so you don't have to go to court. Nothing to do with drug tests, keeep blazing

your first one is like a slap on the wrist dude. i have never had one but have numerous friends that have them. if your BAL wasnt that high and you didnt wreck or hurt anyone you probably wont even lose your license.

I dunno about the not smoking thing, its probably a good idea to stop. I have had some friends get drug tested and some not get drug tested.

second, you probably wont get tested but you may want to stop until after you get everything settled and see what's going to happen. It would suck to fail a drug test after all the shit you have to deal with.
