I shoot for the college paper, and I convinced my parents that I need a new lens, so for christmas they are going to get me an inexpensive lens. I would like to get the Nikon af-d 80-200 2.8, but they wont give me that much.. So for now Im going to get a nice ultra wide angle. Right now I am considering the Sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6 & the Tokina 12-24 f/4.
Based on whta Ive read, the Tokina has better QC so better chance Ill get a good lens, but I wish it was a 10 and not at 12mm. (and yes it is that big of a difference, I got to play with the Nikon 10 & 12 today) Another pro for the tokina is that a fixed aperature f/4 which will have to be acceptable for now.
Pros for the Sigma is that its wider, and an older lens so its more likely I can find a good used one. On average a used sigma is looking about $50 more than the tokina.
Am I over looking any lenses in the $3-400 price range? Help me decide!
