okay so I'm in the commerce program and I have an economic law course that is required for my program. I hate law with a passion. But I have to write a short paper on a case, it's made sense for the most part and I'm almost done but I still don't quite understand this last part in the case.
"Unless an application is made by the Plaintiffs for an amendment within 15 days of the date of these Reasons for Judgment, there will be Judgment for the Plaintiffs against RMJ Contracting Ltd. in the amount of $2,661.00 and the action against Rob Ivicak will stand dismissed in which event the Plaintiffs will be entitled to costs against RMJ Contracting Ltd. in the sum of $400.00 including disbursements."
What exactly does this mean? I'll explain a bit about what's going on. RMJ is a small corporation that is pretty much dead and has no assets. So the plaintiff is trying to sue Ivicak, the only employee and whose wife owns RMJ, rather than RMJ. Long story short, no dice, Ivicak is protected by the corporate veil. But what I don't understand is the $2661.00 and the $400. Does he in theory win the 2661 but just not get it because RMJ doesn't have that much? Does he just get 400? I don't get this part.
Advice would be greatly appreciated and would result in +karma
