Reasons why you personally wouldn't own a gun

I'm not talking about other people or whatever your beliefs are in terms of a gun owning society, but why wouldn't YOU own a gun. Don't turn this shit into a gun debate, I just had this talk with my friend once and wanted to see what would happen on NS.

I simply know how mad I get and I wouldn't trust myself with one. I could probably convince myself that killing a man over cutting me in line is logical in a fit of rage.

Personally i dont think its needed. I mean peoples main argument is o protect your family from a break in. But honestly i dont think that a burglar would ever feel the need to kill me or anyone in my family unless of course they were startled because i have a gun. I would rather be cleaned out then to have to kill someone, i dont think my consience could deal with it. and i dont think anyone is currently lookin to kill any of my immediate family.

Although i suppose sometimes when im camping one would be nice, cause there are some crazy ass people up in the mountains. Plus guns are just fun to shoot. My two cents

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! you think killing people is the only thing you can do with a gun? i mean sure it can, but if you actually would kill someone, then i wouldnt blame the gun, i'd blame yourself. the simple act of posessing a gun could scare a good amount of criminals off.

im 15 i have 2 guns which were given to me
a shotgun, a 38 special revolver

I don't want a gun because:
I'm not american. (lol... just kidding... kind of)
I don't want to kill anyone/thing.
I;m not afraid of someone busting into my house and trying to kill me
I have horrible aim and would probably end up killing someone by accident, like myself

and a plethora of other reasons: hard to apply for/licenses, need upkeep, need to buy stuff for it/expensive, need to store it, my mom would be all WTF?! on me, waste of time, nowhere to shoot it, waste of resources, etc.

to be totally honest, i would never own a handgun or machine gun or anything over the top crazy. i would have no need for such a weapon, and believe that they are meant to kill people rather than game. that being said, i own 2 shotguns and a rifle, and am an avid hunter. i would own a gun just for the practical reason that i enjoy hunting and trap shooting.

i would own one, depending on the neighborhood i live in. if breakins start to happen or carjacks, etc. then yes i will probably invest in one, but the same goes for me when i get angry - i do get pretty pissed and easy too but im pretty sure i could withdraw myself from grabbing a fucking firearm.

I WILL own a gun, multiple. The danger to kids is only a problem if you are a fucking moron and don't lock it up. The whole trigger lock shit is another debate.

Got my Springfield Arms 1911 two weeks ago. Enjoy shooting it but am letting my dad hold on to it until I graduate, I have no place to keep it.

Guns are not for everyone. They require great respect which some people never learned or refuse to learn, and that is where tragedy happens. I grew up being taught how to safely handle them and we haven't ever had an accident with a gun. And while carrying a handgun on your person is usually unnecessary I'm not against it.

This is not true at all.  Competitive Shooting including skeet/ trap/ distance, Recreational Shooting (skeet/trap/distance), Target Shooting, Sporting (hunting).  They aren't made just to kill things.  Seeing as I own lots of guns and have never taken a life, and hunted next to nothing.
