Reasons why you personally wouldn't own a gun

I'm not talking about other people or whatever your beliefs are in terms of a gun owning society, but why wouldn't YOU own a gun. Don't turn this shit into a gun debate, I just had this talk with my friend once and wanted to see what would happen on NS.

I simply know how mad I get and I wouldn't trust myself with one. I could probably convince myself that killing a man over cutting me in line is logical in a fit of rage.

the one reason i would not own a gun, is to save up money to buy a bigger gun

honestly i think guns are awesome (i have 5 of them) ......just think what if someone breaks into your house and has a gun....would you rather be prepared or dead...even if they didnt have a gun(wich means you cant shoot them) you could use it as a scare tactic to keep them at bay until the police show up

Yeah, I guess I get that outlook. I grew up with guns and the first thing I was told was that if my dad wasn't around I was not allowed to touch them. Well, I did once and MAN, the verbal chewing out and the spanking I got (my dad was born in 1938 so he is from the old school) taught me never to even look at them again if he wasn't around.

That doesn't make ANY sense. Either you are mentally unstable or just plain stupid. There's a level of responsibility that you automatically upgrade to when you buy a gun, no matter how fucking angry you get you never go and open your safe and grab your gun..unless you're insane.

I really don't think you automatically become more mature if you own a gun. Things like that don't just happen when you purchase something, it is something you learn over time. There are many instances where a gun would be out and easy to reach where you could get really pissed and consider using it.

Nah dude. Number one reason. I don't like guns, its alot of power for one person to have (squeeze the trigger, you can kill someone. shiiiiiiit) but at the same time, making guns illegal isn't gonna do shit. Most crimes where guns are used, the guns were obtained illegally anyways. But yeah, back to what I was saying, when the zombie apocalypse hits, all you republican conservative motherfuckers are gonna be my best friends. Even the southern dudes who are still all butthurt about the civil war.

haha.  i just was at a party talking to a guy who's in the army and he told a story of when he was shitfaced and shot himself in the leg.  He claims he just tied it off and then went back to partying before going to the hospital.  and he carries around the bullet all the time now.  what a dumbass.

that doesnt matter, a zombie invasion only happens once in a lifetime... if that! I think we should make the best of it and go all out. I would pop on a chain mail so that they cant bite me and go nuts. heck if the epidemic gets bad enough, Im sneaking into a historical museum and putting on a full medieval armor and killing zombies knight style with a sword or a mace. now that is some bad ass zombie killing style and its as safe as it get with the full body armor.

of course it would be scary since the armor is heavy and unpracticle so you would have a big crowd of them around you. after a while you would get clostrophobic and freak out but if you breath correctly and in a calm manner, you can just wipe them out one by one.

the recent vail shootings were the result of a crazy guy.. My dad carries a gun pretty much everywhere he goes and i plan on doing the same..Think of all the situations were a firearm could do good use in bad situations...For example, a there was a recent story in new mexico were a man was raping and stabing his girlfriend in a wal-mart, a man that happened to have a permit and a gun on him walked passed the incident and but lead in the guy potentially saving the womens life..ever think about it that way??

same here.  gun safety is the number one priority and you can go from there.  my dad has his CCWP as well.   I am in college right now and I shoot 2-3 times a week, got my CCW class done a few weeks ago, and I have a few of my guns here with me.  I actually don't get out hunting much anymore.  Usually only a couple times a year, but I love guns in the collecting and sport shooting aspect.

since there are already guns in existence then there cant be "no guns" (which might not be your point im just saying).  so then the problem with that is that the "bad guys" will always find a way to illegally buy guns like they already do, but the "good guys" and responsible people would have no way to defend themselves. 

not really trying to create an argument here.  i have no problem with people who don't own guns or don't want to own guns for certain reasons.  thats just a personal take on it. 

i also know someone who is alive today directly because we have the right to bear arms.  hits home hard then.
