Reasons why you personally wouldn't own a gun

I'm not talking about other people or whatever your beliefs are in terms of a gun owning society, but why wouldn't YOU own a gun. Don't turn this shit into a gun debate, I just had this talk with my friend once and wanted to see what would happen on NS.

I simply know how mad I get and I wouldn't trust myself with one. I could probably convince myself that killing a man over cutting me in line is logical in a fit of rage.

Handguns are kind of scary, strangely enough I don't jump when they get pointed at me(its been twice but it was a joke). I actually have guns that are mine, but my uncle keeps them in his safe. They are hunting guns and one is an antique.

The only reason that I don't own a gun right now is that I couldn't afford to buy it and whole bunch of ammo so I could learn to shoot. A gun is useless unless you practice with it

That's how your post reads. Dude, I am just trying to do a social experiment here. I know that personally as a man I am not strong enough to own a weapon, I could not possibly be safe in terms of owning a gun. I am way too angry of a person. That has nothing to do with how I feel about guns though.

i have one, and havent killed anybody or even come close to it yet. you never know when your gonna need it. plus going to a gun range is pretty fun to let off some steam. depending on what caliber you get ammo isnt that expensive either. just gotta look for the box deals.

guns are sometimes only for practice....if you target shoot you most likely have a gun with great aim but horriable penatration strength

my family owns 4 3 rifles and 1 handgun i used to shoot a lot when i was like 8 through 11 then just stopped ive never had any intention of shooting someone i didnt even hunt me and my dad just shot targets and had a good time

this. i was brought up with guns in the household. i was taught from a young age the do's and dont's of gun safety. my dad always had a handgun on him (concealed weapons permit) and he would take me to shoot a lot. now that im in college i havent shot in a while, but i see myself getting, or trying to get a concealed weapons permit when i have my own place. its a nice sense of security.

because i would not be able to bring my self to shoot somebody. Plus I'm not legally aloud to carry it anywhere with me in Canada. Is there anyone else that agrees with me that guns are one of the worst inventions the world has ever seen?

To be honest I am surprised that most people aren't like me. In NYC where I live, you cannot open carry, but lets say you could and I open carried. I honestly have get in situations on a weekly basis where I am close to murderous bloody rage, and God knows what would happen if I knew I had a gun on me.

indeed. as long as your not a re-tard (ruh-tard) nothing bad will come of it. ie: safety lock/not having it loaded 24/7 / putting it somewhere where your kids can't get to it.

if you don't want a gun its your choice. i like my odds of survival if someone breaks into my house with a loaded weapon over yours

guns are scary. seriously i get freaked out even when i see someone else with a gun. hunting guns seem okay but handguns are risky and can end up looking like a threat.

I will give you reasons why I WILL own a gun:
1. Protect my self
2. Protect my family(when I have one)
3. Protection from the government
4. 5th amendment
5. Shoot some animals to get food
6. they are fucking awesome
7. they are fun to shoot
8. when the shit hits the fan I will much better prepared than all these pussies too afraid to own them.

I would not own a gun if I did not know how to use it, or trust myself to use it.

Carrying a gun that you are not willing to use is harmful to yourself.

there is no need for a gun. people are paranoiac about getting attacked at home and things like that. just lock your doors and you are fine! with the money I save from buying a gun, I can afford to pay for a lawyer to sue the motherfucked who mugged me

this, all my friends say there coming to my house if shit gets crazy just becaue my dad owns ALOT of guns..Theres probably been over 100 guns in my house at one point of time, he also had a reloading station too were he makes all his bullets..The the thing I want to mention though is that not once in my 18 years in this house have we ever had a problem, as long as your smart there is no reason to not own a gun...none

Hey dumb dumb its the second, not the fifth.

I am pretty neutral about having a gun, I might get one when I am a bit older, but I know for sure that I would be getting rid of it before I have kids, too much shit can go wrong if a kid finds a gun.
