A quick word on blocking ads

Ever since the new NS layout went live I get a message from Windows when I read forum topics about how a script is making things run slowly and do I want to stop running said script.
It doesn't seem to have much effect, but sometimes it makes the whole thread go into italics. Otherwise it's just a minor inconvenience.
Is there an easy way to fix this? Am I just an idiot (feel free to answer silently)?
