Camera Help!

ns..i have a camera problem...looking for a little advice or some tips

my buddy was filming us longboarding, with my camera (Sony Handycam DCR-HC28), out the window of his truck. This was like a week back and I live in NH so it's getting pretty chilly around here about now. Anyways, the camera was held out the window for a solid like 15 minutes in the cold, then brought into the warm cab of the truck and condensation formed on the inside of the camera..or at least that's what the screen says when I try to turn the camera on. The manual says to leave the tape compartment open for an hour and the condensation should clear out and I should be all set. The compartment has been open for about a week now and still no luck....so I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this problem. Any tips or advice will be helpful.

i had this on a canon once before. basically it takes sooo much longer than you would ever expect to get the condensation out. about 5 days for mine. the only problem i can see with yours is that your are getting a message, rather than just condensation obscuring the pic. no harm in taking it into a sony centre if i doesn't clear up

Put it in a bag of rice. Or you could get the saline gels (white packets from shoe boxes) and shove them in a bag with the camera. Or just go to a camera store, I'm sure they could help you out.

I dont want to scare you but you might have blown your circuits. if the water made it to some electronics and you turned the camera on you may have caused a power surge and blown something. the ideal thing to do is to take out your battery and then open the tape slot. ( without the battery, the camera cant open and release the tape) this way no electrical currents are sent and the camera can breath. or like other said a bag of rice is prime.

little note* I know a lot about this since I put my ipod in the washing machine twice.

Bag of rice does the trick. Did this with mine. And it had A LOT.

make sure you take the battery out...and i mean tape too...never turn on your camera when coming in from outside...
