College student getting a credit card.....

Ok this is more of a rant than anything. I got on CITI banks credit card site and applied for their "college student" card. They denied me because I have an outstanding balance too high for what I make (my student loans). Over 5 years I only have 10k in loans. Why make a fucking college student card if you are going to deny anyone with loans? I check my credit and it is very good. I have paid off about $20k in loans already and have a different card I have been using for gas for my car and paying it off regularly.

I know I should go to my bank to get a card, but will I be wasting my time? Will they deny me because of my loans? If so what is a good place to get one?
I just want it to pay my utilities and tv and interent bills really.

I'm pretty sure you will be able to get a credit card from somewhere. Basically anyone can. I have 85k in college loans so far and I could probably go get one still.

yeah but i dont want one that is pre approved with an insane variable interest rate.

holy fuck. i hope youre gonna be a doctor or a lawyer. haha

that said, i have 2 CC go to your local bank, credit union, wherever. ide say you will have better chances.. or what about a debit card? or are you looking at it from the point of view that you wont be able to pay it off every month?

I have a debit card, but I want to be able to have one centralized bill payment card that I can pay off at the end of the month. I hate having to wait for the payments to go through and then the pending period. I put all of my money into my savings and hold it there (high interest). I dont like it sitting in my checking account because Ill spend it.
I also want a card for when I buy bigger purchases like a tv or something.

Some scandanavian guy in Summit hooked me up with a college student card, and lied about a lot of the information because at that point I wasn't going to school.  Instantly got approved too
