how come skiers get recognized if they slay rails but not in the air the tc crew, Compton all great rail skiers. but when was the last time you heard someone known just for jumps I'm not saying its a bad thing, and I am not saying in any way the tc crew can't ski I was just wondering why.

i'm going to go ahead and say it's because more people can relate with air time than jibbing rails. sure, within this community there are a lot of jibbers, but if you look at the industry/sport as a whole - well, rails are there, but getting air has been the number one way of getting a thrill on a pair of skis for... well, ever?

Jibbing is just a smaller niche than getting air (and the trick said person does while flying though the air).

oh wait, i thought you were saying "why are rail skiers not as noticed"... as you can probably tell from my above post, I don't agree with you. I'd say skiers with air skills are better known than rail skiers... by far.

i think it goes both ways.  i see all these kids from breck drop edits with cork 9s, rodeo 7s, sw 10s.  all these banger jump tricks but they have shots of the just greesing rails and spinning some 2s out.  then i see kids from the east throwin pretzels and every sw up spin out combo imaginable but are throwing 3s and 5s on jumps.  seeing as so many kids are getting so good so fast, if you wana get big you need a big bag of tricks on both

there are more broadcasted big air comps than rail jams, so most of us want to see what the pros are doing on rails. the guys from tc are all based out of the east, so they have the jib mindset, instead of big jumps and such. when they are out west, they definitely get some nice jumps in their edits. its just where they are.

you definitely see more west coast edits with sick jumps, and more east coast with jibs and rails. its what is available.
