Hey I was wondering if anyone here has a LinkedIn account? I've been playing with it for the past couple days and it seems like a very powerful tool to connect with certain people in specific industries. The web of connections is really cool in terms of finding people associated with your contacts.

Post up your link if you have one!

if not, I would recommend looking at getting one...basically is a professional version of facebook if you will.

I love linkedin. Tried to add you but linkedin is really weird about not letting you add some people you have no connections with. The URL you posted didn't even work for me.

LinkedIn can be useful, but also consider who you add, might want to be more in your network of word or field. So having more friends isn't always better like facebook, its more who your friends are, and their connections.

Finally made one. Think I made one near the beginning and never used it. While filling out applications some of them could be done with linked in and I just figured fuck it I'd make one.

Linking everything to my workhands profile which works fine maybe even better for me.

I'll probably never make a connection or really use it for anything but whatever. It took me 5 min to make it so no real loss.

Nobody is ever going to see it anyway. Another reason why I didn't use it was that it was dead as fuck unless you worked for some big companies. For what I do it's kind of pointless. I just figured maybe I'll have to do less typing on my next application, although pdf resume seems to cover most of that.

Hey man, employers are going to google you, and if you have a LinkedIn page that pops up when they do that, it'll look pretty good. I had a graduate school selection committee guy straight up tell me that he googled me, found my videos (including the skiing ones) and they played them at their department meeting. It must've helped, because I was accepted there hahaha

I run a very small business and feel the same way, but I have always felt I have been to young, who is the youngest person with a linkedin? And if I am younger than 18 is worth it?

I don't even think it's really worth it for me but it takes like 5 minutes to make so it's not really much of an investment. Some jobs had slots for you to link it, I linked my work hands on that but decided to finally get linked in rolling.

Will it ever help me? Probably not but really was pretty painless to make.

For sure. If you add everyone from every industry you'll have the most random shit in "people you may know" instead of anyone actually relevant.

Actually started using it more the last 2 years. Figure it can't hurt. Also nice with a lot of online applications filling in a bunch of stuff by linking the linkedin profile.

Looked through it a bit today to see if I could track down some more ski industry people I know. That said not one of the industries that hectic on there. A lot of people dont have one as it's not really necessary. The connection side is chill though.
