Ipod touch problems

just started having issues with my ipod touch today.  i have a 1st generation ipod touch and the buttons like search, return or space (bottm buttons when typing) dont work.  i really need this ipod for internet and use it all of the time.  im wondering if anyone else has had this problem.  do you think apple would warrenty it because its so old?

i think you should return it and try to get a refund to get a second generation sometimes restarting yopur ipod over and over again works anyway good luck bro

id asy get a new one cause the warranty would be way gone and i dont think you can do anything about it if its that old. call apple. i dunno.

Does the bottom of the screen generally not work, or only those buttons? If its just the buttons, hold the top button and home button until the ipod restarts. Apples warranty is only one year so i don't think that will work.

I recently had a problem with my ipod, so i went online and looked at the apple store and i figured out that they would replace my old (5th generation ipod video) with a new ipod classic, with 5x the memory, for 70 bucks

pretty solid deal, you might want to look into this as u might be able to get a new touch with a bigger memory capacity for little money

its just those buttons i have listed.  like on the main screen where it says music and videos and photos and that stuff.  those work fine but as soon as i get to the enter and number keys they dont work at all.  its weird because the music, and video button is in the same place as the return keys.  i have tryd reseting it ultiple times now and nothing working.

did you have to call them, or did you find that out online.  pretty good deal if you ask me.  im gonna call apple tommarow sometime and see if i can sceduale an appointment with a "genious" and maybe i can get a new ipod for a low price.

have you tried using a different finger? i dont know what it is but sometimes my ipod just dosent like my thumbs

i got a new ipod touch 3rd generation 32gb for xmas, and sold the one with the non working buttons to a friend.  he just jailbroke it and now the buttons work fine.  stupid ipods

Have you tried a restore? Try going into itunes then select your ipod and click restore, if this does not work id try consulting www.ipodtouchfans.com the forum their has helped me with my itouch problems numerous times.
