No, the reason Pepsi was so successful was because it really did taste better. Coke tried to change its taste to be more like Pepsi and released it as "New Coke". When they tested that up again original Coke it always got better results, but people when people found out they wanted original Coke back because it's an "american tradition" and brand loyalty and they didnt want change.
