Three guys check into a whore-house for the night and the pimp tells them it’s $30 for the hooker, payable in advance. So, they each pay the pimp $10 and go to the hooker’s room. A few minutes later, the clerk realizes he has made an error and overcharged the trio by $5. He as...ks the bellhop to return $5 to the 3 guys who had just checked in. The bellhop sees this as an opportunity to make $2 as he reasons that the three guys would have a tough time dividing $5 evenly among them; so he decides to tell them that the pimp made a mistake of only $3, giving a dollar back to each of the friends. He pockets the leftover $2 and goes home for the day! Now, each of the three guys gets a dollar back, thus they each paid $9 for the room which is a total of $27 for the night. We know the bellhop pocketed $2 and adding that to the $27, you get $29, not $30 which was originally spent. Where did the other dollar go????
basically the question is, if they each get one dollar back, then they each payed 9 dollars, and since 9 x 3= 27, and the bellhop only kept 2, there is only a grand total of 29 bucks, what happened to the other dollar.
If you go by what each guy paid you get 9X3 which is 27. 25 of that is in the pimps hand and 2 of that is in the bell boys hand. You can't add the bell boys money to the 27 because he already has 2 dollars from the original sum.
So the original 30 goes as such. 25 to the pimp, 2 to bellboy and 3 to dudes who are going to have an orgy, the bad kind of orgy.
