Why yes it is. Is Dante's Divine Comedy an epic? It's a lengthy poem, but is it an epic in the classical sense?

 thats the thing.  epic isn't even used in the right context anymore.

beowulf, paradise lost, and gilgamesh are epics.

Well you just encompassed all of Homer's stories under the name of Homer, but I believe they should each receive credit so also The Odyssey and The Illiad.
