True, but the leading cable news network is Fox News which is complete joke.
Last semester i had my term paper for Politica Analysis was an evaluation of how media bias affects voter choice in presidential elections. It was a lit review, which basically is a summation of the scholarly research that has been done already. One study called "the fox news effect" did all kinds of complicated regression analysis and concluded that in the 2000 election (4 years after fox news went national) they attributed 300,000 votes to the repbulican candidate (GW Bush) that otherwise would not have voted for him. This was larger than the margin between the two Bush and Gore. Kind of off topic but very interesting. I'm sure even these satirical anchormen have some sway on public opinion too.
