Colbert Report/Daily Show are some of the most irresponsible institutions of the press ever. They subtly brainwash kids into confusing comedy with propaganda. If you actually know anything about anything, you will see right through the jokes and suddenly they aren't funny anymore. They're just dumb and wrought with flaws.
At least with fox news, they barage you and say such idiotic things you know they're coming from the hard right. Yet on comedy central, Colbert and Stewart both claim ideological neutrality.
Its pretty clear they're hard left, yet they use simple ridicule and play to the uneducated and simplicity of the average american who is easily amused.
For example: I once heard Colbert defend the USPS with, "Are you kidding me? For 41 cents some poor chap has to come to your door take your crap and send it across the country in only a week!"
Flaw 1: Sending a letter doesn't cost 41 cents. You pay taxes that subsidize the rest of the costs. On average, every american pays nearly $300 annually to maintain the USPS. Thats the problem right there, yet young people now think USPS opponents are nothing but a bunch of whiners.
Flaw 2: How is a unionized postal worker, an occupation which requires little specialized skill other than being able to drive a vehicle where the steering wheel is on the right and reading, a "poor chap." It seems to me he is being overcompensated for the work he is doing, and thats part of the problem!
