Rossignol S3 mounting points

I am planning to buy from these skis and I have no idea where the recommended mounting points are.

The best feature of the ski is that it behaves as symmetric in park due to tip and tail rockers. I guess this can be eploited with the centered mounting point (this must be core center?). Therefore it seems to be senseless to mount the bindings anywhere else as it is supposed to be the 'most versatile ski' and I want to use them mostly in the park anyway.

My question would be whether the center mounting point is back enough to be able to ski in the powder too and whether it is the point where the skis are symmetric on groomed snow.

The tip has much more rocker then the tail does so center mounting it will not provide an even ride for you.

The recommended mounting point is where the ski is designed to be ridden at. Unless you are riding a lot of switch pow, i would suggest recommended.

as i saw on pictures there are 3 mounting points with 0, +3 and +5. I would be very curious of where 0 is compared to true center. any tipps?

I've never had rockered ski and have no idea where i should mount the bindings.

Well then get your self a tape measure ans see where true center is. Measure the full length of the ski then divide by 2 to see where true center is and then you will have a comparison to the other mounting points.

maybe just mount at midsole? cuz its only the sidecut thats like a symetrical ski.

true center is +6, +3 is three cm back and 0 is six cm back.

I found a pdf containing data for every S series skis.

S3 length and midmark '0'

186 84.6cm

177 79.7cm

168 75.3cm

159 71.3cm

Recommended mounting:

freeride 0 cm

jib +3 cm

park +6 cm

demo 0 cm

agreed.

I mounted mine at +6 which is just off of a true center mount and I kind of regret it. I think if you're going in the park/pipe then you would be alright but jibbin around the groomers and shit, I felt that I got a bit of tip dive...then again, I'm heavy as fuck (205lbs..+30lbs with the suit on) and 5'11. I ride the 186 and wish they were longer in the tipl

I'm remounting them to about +2.5 or +3. Just a bit back. Like Ryno said the tip has way more rocker than the tail.

BUt all in all..WICKED ski...solid on landings, carves the grooms, easy to butta..stiff in the tail..Just what I was looking for...for jibbin around the mountain on non pow days...

Here's a pic on opening day at Whistler...should of brought out the Bents instead of these but I was excited to try them out. Solid ski if I wasn't so damm fat.

how comfortable is it riding switch? I love ripping up switch carves and i've been curious about these guys.

I took them to cypress on grooms and they carved like they were on rails. They are of course a lot stiffer in the tail than in the tip. So I had to check my speed some times carving switch. But they hauled.

With the sidecut and camber underfoot vs non camber, the forward or switch carving is wayyyyy easier. And actually makes me want something like the JJ,Bentchetler or S7 for morning pow/afternoon-tracked-snow days.

Useful info...

I'd use them mostly in park. I travel around a lot so I want only one pair of skis that rocks in park but doesn't die in pow like my mojos do.

So for park use which mounting would YOU recommend?
