08 volkl walls- how shitty?

Alright so I just found out the walls are sold out in 185 on the volkl form this year- same shit happened to me last year. They need to make more in that size, considering pretty much everybody over 5'10'' gets 180+ skis, and I'm 6'3''.

Anyways, I've found a pair of 2008 185s for $300, but have heard a bunch of horror stories regarding their durability. How did peoples 08 walls hold up? And if will they be warranted with a new pair?

its usually a 1 year or 6 monthwarranty, so if you bought them from a dealer it should be warrantied, but if you buy them off an NS member, they will be out of warranty

umm, my 08s (the green ones right?) were bomb proof and by the end of the year I was basically trying to ruin them and I couldn't. I'd say your fine with them (plus I like the graphic better - it's one of my favorite graphics ever).

And, as long as its from an official Volkl dealer (not someone in the BST or something) they'll warranty them for sure (and you might even get newer ones if your lucky).

Yea i heard a few stories bout heel pieces ripping out, in particular the px12. Presumably an upper core defect in that region on batch(es) ... So yea just mount em with griffons or jesters to minimise that likelihood?

i had the green ones 07/08, and i got a free pair of this years and i was stoked because i was gunna have two pairs of nice skis to use, but to my dismay i noticed my older ones the heel piece was ripping out, and the top sheet underneath was like coming up everytime i flexed the ski, i had look p12's on them. I got jesters for this years. But i was talking to the techs at my shop, and he was saying its possible because of the narrower screw pattern on the p12's heel piece. But damn did i love those skis

I had 08s, bindings pulled out twice, then twice again with heli coils, then a sidewall blew out and then they snapped.. and volkl warranty were a pain in the ass too, i did eventually get a new pair but only thanks to untracked.com getting involved. If you can find them/afford them get 186 Reno Jibs instead.

I had a pair of the green 08 walls and they lasted me about 2 months..called up volkl and they sent me a pair of 09 walls free of charge..so as long as your buying from dealer( as everyone is saying) then you are perfectly fine!

actually volkl just emailed me and said they found a pair of this years in utah that they're shipping back east- so im all set with the 2010s.

and yeah the reno jibs do look sick but i can't afford a park ski that expensive.
