I just flunked out of college

So basically Im in an intense program and we have 3 tests and i just failed my second one. So im out, like they told me not to even come to class anymore. Done. FML

Is it the first time they've released you? It's almost guaranteed that you can veto the decision, and with enough reason and recommendation from advisors/former professors, they'll let you back in. Make it clear that you've been breaking your back to keep up (whether you have or not) and stress that you'll seek even more help on top of what you've been doing.

thanks bro. Unfortunately I have 2 professors for my program and they both graded my test and both failed me. Its an automatic dismissal. I might be able to get back in next fall but they only take 25 people from a pool of 300 -400. So its unlikley that i will get back in under the circumstances.

Trav. - I wish I could say i've had my nose to the grindstone but I've been partying hard and getting into trouble. Its my own fault, I have the ability just not the motivation

Jodi- thanks I think i actual will do that. Just finish this semester of non program classes to get some credits for my money then get a place in town and ski it up.

i didn't flunk out.... but I tried to stunt too hard first weekend back at college in September and ended up in the ICU resulting in me losing my highrise luxury apartment overlooking the water and bars, lost my car which was impounded with $3000 worth of fines, got punched in the eye by a girl who threw my cell phone out my 6th floor window, lost my wallet and credit cards, drivers license, got arrested and my parents are still paying $900 for my half of the apartment since my roomate can't find a replacement yet, on top of thousands of dollars for hospital bills even though i dont live there and so ... anyways don't feel too bad about yourself life goes on things happen the way they are supposed to happen. Sometimes it takes a big wake-up call like it did for me. I was far too ignant for the last 4 years and it eventually catches up to you

yeah, it's all good. Just take the winter to ski and have fun and live life man, and then if you are motivated and have the right attitude, go back in the fall. that's what i did, and now i do great.

true, but things are quite different now for me... it took a long time. A snowballing effect, resulting in an avalanche. Luckily I am 20 and not like 26 when I realized this. Young heath how you living?

if you are just failing one class then audit that class, if the tests were for staying in the college in general, well then sorry to hear that. At least you wont need a job to have medical insurance.

i failed more than half my credits first semester last year and would've been dismissed, but i wrote a letter explaining why i deserved to stay in.  i wish i hadn't.  while i pulled my grades up second semester of last year, i still wasn't really enjoying what i was doing and i would've been better off at a different school or doing something else.  about 2/3's into my 3rd semester now, and i still don't wanna be here.  while my situation is different (i'm not really partying and stuff) i think you still might be able to learn from yours and my failures: maybe re-examine if being at that school, studying what you are ,and doing what you are is really what you wanna be doing.  just my 2 cents

Sometimes I wonder if Id actually learn more on my own than at college. I tend to kind of only study the things that genuinely interest me here anyways, regardless of what's on exams. Honestly man, if you have a real curiosity for things in the world and how everything works and you can motivate yourself, you can still learn alot. Maybe college was holding you back? Once you find something that really interests you, go with it! You don't need professors to tell you what your passion is.

Take a semester, ski, clear your head, and then kick ass man. You'll do fine

yo man, I flunked out of an intense program too. It's shit but at least this year I'm rockin out working and then goin to Banff and then tryin to get back in for next year.  It will give you nuffff time to figure shit out if you can't get back in right away and more time to ski.  Good luck on everyting and figuring it all out.

Actually i was in a Radiological Technician Program (aka the guy who takes xrays) Its actually a extremely demanding program, you have to know a lot of medical terminology, basically you need to know every deise that is studied by radiological exams and every position for every body part. As well as  Anatomy and Physiology but those are non program credits so im still in there for now.

my mom did that, she was an xray tech, you make good money doing it fa sho.  but if thats what you want to do, just keep trying to get back into the school, or possibly transfer schools, adn then you wont have to take a year off.

Honestly dude, failing out is the best thing that ever happened to me. I took a semester off, got my shit together, reevaluated what I was doing and wanted to do and now I'm super motivated to finish up, and if everything goes to plan I'll be done next year. Take some time off and re-evaluate everything, it'll help.

im failing my first class right now.  I dont think there is any hope i will pass it, i need to get 90's on the test thursday and the final.  studied 6hours on sunday alone for it but i still have no idea whats going on.  i guess thats not that bad seeing as its only one class, but shit still sucks.  gunna have to take a some summer classes to catch up if i wanna graduate on time

for real getting put on academic probation was the best thing that ever happened to me.

i worked in banff for the summer made good friends and got the partying out of my system,
got a job for mike wiegele heli-skiing and got to go heli-skiing and ski sun peaks for free (if no seats on the heli), fished albacore tuna on the north pacific getting a new perspective on the world, and then finished it off with working for trevor linden on a house that he is building in point grey vancouver while living in vancouver in false creek rent free. 

now i feel i am mature enough and ready to take on my final year of school with a new appetite for learning. 

no regrets at all!
