Finding a Match for a Zipper?

Does anyone know how to go about finding the other side of a zipper that I already have? One side of the zippers on my hoodie is busted, and I really want to find a zipper that I can attach to that side that will fit into the still-working side.

You won't find one easily or at all. If you are doing to do the work to replace one side replace the whole thing.

I would just replace both sides, but I also wanted to find an answer so that I could do the same thing with my jacket, and it's impossible to remove one side on the jacket

What? No, I was serious. I'm jealous that your mom knows how to do that and I have no idea.
Drycleaners is a good idea, although I was hoping to buy a zipper somewhere for a dollar or two.

Why can't you replace it on one side? They had to get it in there somehow, it can be undone...

Well I could replace both sides for my hoodie, but I also want to make an entirely new zipper for my jacket while also keeping the old zipper.
So no one knows if there is any way to measure the teeth of a zipper and order a matching set? There must be some industry standard way of measuring zippers so companies can be like "we need one hundred orders of size 8 zippers in 14-inch lengths," namean?
